The Government’s candidate for the SCP has passed the evaluation of the Pre-Vetting Commission

The Pre-Vetting Commission announces the result of the evaluation regarding the candidate for membership in the Superior Council of Prosecutors from among civil society representatives, Mihail Sorbala. According to the Commission, the candidate meets the criteria of financial and ethical integrity, thus passing the evaluation. The passing decision was sent today to the candidate and the Government, which is the institution responsible for organizing the competition in this case.

Mihail Sorbala is to notify the Commission whether he accepts or opposes the publication of the decision within 48 hours of receipt, according to the provisions of Law no. 26/2022. The decision will be posted on the website of the Commission, in a depersonalized form, in Romanian and English, only with the consent of the candidate. The decisions of the Evaluation Commission may be appealed within 5 days from the date of receipt, without following the preliminary procedure.

Mihail Sorbala is an associate professor and Head of Department, Free International University of Moldova (ULIM), and was on the list of candidates submitted by the Government of the Republic of Moldova to the Commission on 15 August 2023, for evaluation for the position of member of the Superior Council of Prosecutors.
