The Pre-Vetting Commission announces that had terminated the resumed evaluation of former judge Stanislav Sorbalo, a judicial candidate for membership in the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) and the Disciplinary Board of Judges of the SCM. According to the Commission, after the candidate’s termination as judge, as of 24 October 2023, he no longer qualifies as a judicial candidate for membership in the Superior Council of Magistracy or the Disciplinary Board of Judges. The decision was sent today to the candidate and the SCM, the institution responsible for organizing the contest.
The decision on Stanislav Sorbalo’s candidacy will be published only with candidate’s consent. Stanislav Sorbalo has 48 hours to inform the Commission if he agrees or opposes the publication. In the absence of notification, the decision will be posted on the Commission’s website, in a depersonalised form, in Romanian and English.
The resumed evaluation of candidate Stanislav Sorbalo started after, on 1 August 2023, the Supreme Court of Justice, annulled several of the Commission’s decisions and ordered the re-evaluation of 21 candidates. Currently, the Commission is re-evaluating 12 candidates for membership in the SCM.
