The Pre-Vetting Commission announces the outcome of the evaluation of the candidate to the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP), prosecutor Gheorghe Borș. According to the Commission, Gheorghe Borș failed the evaluation as he does not meet the financial and ethical integrity criteria. The detailed information on the outcome of evaluation is included in the decision sent to the candidate and to the SCP, the institution responsible for organizing the competition in this case.
The candidate may accept or refuse the publication of the decision, according to the provisions of Law no. 26/2022. If within 48 hours from the receipt of decision, the candidate does not inform the Commission that he opposes to its publication, the decision will be posted on the Commission’s website in a depersonalized form. The decision of the Evaluation Commission may be appealed within 5 days from the date of receipt, without following the preliminary procedure.
The decision on failing the integrity evaluation is a legal basis for not admitting the candidate to the elections or competition. Only candidates who pass the evaluation of the Pre-Vetting Commission are eligible for membership in the SCP.
Gheorghe Borș, prosecutor within the General Prosecutor’s Office, was publicly interviewed as candidate for membership in the SCP during the first round of hearings held at the end of April. The hearing lasted a little over an hour and the Commission members’ questions to the candidate concerned issues related to his financial integrity.
