Iulian Muntean is a candidate from the second group of non-judicial candidates, nominated by the Parliament for the position of member in the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) and was interviewed by the Pre-Vetting Commission in the context of financial and ethical integrity evaluation of the candidates to the SCM.
The public hearing was held in accordance with the provisions of Law no. 26/2022 and the Evaluation Rules of the Commission and touched upon the candidate’s lifestyle and donations of financial means received by the candidate between 2008 and 2022. In particular, the Commission members pursued to clarify the circumstances in which a member of the candidate’s family made a bank transfer to another family member in 2020.
🔸Similar to the group of the judicial candidates, non-judges are evaluated by the Pre-Vetting Commission to establish their eligibility for becoming a permanent member of the SCM. Financial and ethical integrity checks cover a period of 15 years.
Following the evaluation procedure, the Commission issues a decision regarding the promotion or failure to promote the evaluation.
