Ion Chirtoacă, judge at the Chișinău Court, Buiucani Office, and candidate for the position of member in the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), underwent a resumed evaluation by the Pre-Vetting Commission in accordance with Article 14, paragraph (10) of Law No. 26/2022 and based on the conclusions of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ). On 1 August 2023 SCJ upheld the candidate’s appeal and ordered the resumed evaluation.
The Commission publicly interviewed the candidate to clarify the factual situation and address doubts of financial and ethical integrity. During the interview, judge Chirtoacă asked for his parents to be heard.
Following the resumed evaluation procedure, the Commission issues a decision regarding the promotion or failure to promote the evaluation.
