The Pre-Vetting Commission announces that has completed the resumed evaluation of Tatiana Chiriac, a non-judicial candidate for membership in the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM). According to the Commission, the candidate failed the resumed evaluation, as the candidate does not meet the financial and ethical integrity criteria. The decision was sent today to the candidate and the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, the institution responsible for organizing the contest.
The decision on the resumed evaluation will be published only with the candidate’s consent. Tatiana Chiriac has 48 hours to inform the Commission is she agrees or opposes the publication of the decision. If not such notification is sent to the Commission, the decision will be published on the Commission’s website, in a depersonalized form, in Romanian and English. The candidate was publicly heard on 28 November 2023.
Non-judicial candidate Tatiana Chiriac was re-evaluated after the Supreme Court of Justice, on 1 August 2023, annulled several of the Commission’s decisions and ordered the re-evaluation of the candidates. Out of the 21 re-evaluated candidates, one candidate passed the resumed evaluation, five failed and two candidates withdrew from the competition during the resumed evaluation process. Currently the Commission is re-evaluating 13 candidates for positions of member in the SCM.
