With a career spanning 35 years in the fields of international human rights, international humanitarian law, and both national (Netherlands) and international criminal law, Mr. von Hebel also has extensive experience in diplomacy and management. He served for nearly 10 years as legal adviser to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and represented the Netherlands in multilateral initiatives, including the Council of Europe and the United Nations. He also participated in various working groups aimed at drafting new conventions, including the drafting and adoption of the Statute of the International Criminal Court. Mr. von Hebel also worked at the International Criminal Court, the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
