The first three candidates for the position of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy, from among judges, were heard

The public hearings of the first three candidate judges for the position of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM), out of the 24 remaining in the contest, ended. The recordings from the hearings have been published and the Pre-Vetting Commission is to issue reasoned decisions about promotion or non-promotion of the evaluation by the candidates among judges.

The first candidate publicly heard by the Commission was Livia Mitrofan, judge at the Chisinau Court, Centru Office, followed by the candidates Maria Frunze – judge at the Chisinau Court, Centru Office and Ioana Chironeț – judge at the Chisinau Court, Ciocana Office. During the hearings, the members of the Commission asked several questions of concretization related to the assets and incomes of the candidates, based on the information obtained from public and private sources, as well as the previous communication with the candidates.

The hearings were attended by representatives of civil society and the media. The entire process of the hearings has been documented on video and audio, with the exception of the deliberations, which were held in camera, and the recordings are posted on the  https://vetting.md/audieri/ website  and the Commission’s Youtube account. The Pre-Vetting Committee will hear the other 21 judge candidates in the coming weeks.
