ANNOUNCEMENT! The Pre-Vetting Commission concludes the hearing of judicial candidates for positions in the CSM with magistrate Alexei Paniș

On Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 10:00, the Pre-Vetting Commission will hear, in public session, Alexei PANIȘ, magistrate from Chișinău Court, Rîșcani Oficce, and candidate for the position of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM).  Alexei Paniș will be the last candidate, among the career judges, who will be interviewed, as the candidate Natalia CLEVADÎ, judge at the Chisinau Court, Buiucani Office, requested to be evaluated without attending the hearing. The members of the Pre-Vetting Commission will take the decision on the candidate based on the information gathered in the evaluation process, including from the written communication with the candidate.

The hearings of candidate Paniș will be held in the premises of the National Institute of Justice, room 108 (Alexandru Ion Cuza) (M. Kogălniceanu street corner with Serghei Lazo street 1). Civil society, media representatives and the general public may participate in the hearings by notifying the Secretariat of the Commission in advance at  the press@vettingmd.com.  The list of participants will be established according to the sequence of notifications received by the Secretariat. Only people registered in advance will have access to the room where the interviews will be conducted.

We recall that filming, live streaming, as well as taking pictures during the entire sessions is prohibited. The Secretariat of the Commission will provide interested journalists with photos during the hearings, and the recordings of the hearings will be placed on the website of the Commission www.vetting.md in the section Transparency -> Hearings and the YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@comisia.prevetting

The Pre-Vetting Commission has so far organized four rounds of hearings, in which 21 judges who are candidates for positions in the SCM were interviewed, out of the 28 registered in the contest. 13 candidates have already received the Commission’s decisions on the outcome of their financial and ethical integrity assessment. Further decisions are to be announced publicly along the way.
