Decisions on failing the evaluation by two candidates to SCP

The Pre-Vetting Commission has completed the evaluation of prosecutors Vitalie Codreanu and Cristina Gladcov and announces that the two candidates to the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP) failed the integrity evaluation. The decisions were sent to the candidates and to the institution responsible for organizing the competition, in this case the SCP.

At this stage, the Commission is only entitled to communicate information on the outcome of the evaluation, as decisions can only be published with the consent of the candidates concerned. They must notify the Commission whether or not they object to publication within 48 hours after receiving the decision, according to Law 26/2022. Decisions may be appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice within 5 days from the receipt, under the provisions of the same law.

Both Vitalie Codreanu and Cristina Gladcov, prosecutors within the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, agreed to participate in the public hearing and were interviewed by the members of the Pre-Vetting Commission during the first round of hearings of the candidates to SCP.

Note: Until his moment, out of the SCP candidates who went through the full vetting process, one candidate passed and two failed the evaluation. Four other candidates failed the evaluation on the grounds that they withdrew from the competition or did not submit the mandatory documents required by law within the prescribed time limits. 11 candidates are awaiting the decisions of the Pre-Vetting Commission.
